The online tests are not in a controlled environment and are likely only testing a single type of intelligence and comprehension. I don’t know if the online tests are a scam but I would question their effectiveness at determining IQ. At the same time, many people also question the validity of IQ tests in general.
You won't find many tests that are this comprehensive and convenient. Not just how comprehensive it is, but how it accurately reflects taking a test like the WAIS; many important parts are untimed, for one. I also believe that your IQ is probably between 110-115. But your spatial IQ, or perceptual reasoning in general, could be as high as 130.
Doing that test you posted, I didn't know how many stars were on a US flag in 1935, I now know it's 48 but that factoid hasn't made me have a higher IQ. There's also no poison ivy here so again, didn't ever need the knowledge about counting leaves. It's one of the things that IQ test makers have to be considerate of when making these tests.
Yes, he had some practice effect, but I think he was smart either way. You cant really practice it from 95% to 99.9%. He was already smart, but maybe improved some results (maybe he practiced digit span test for example in order not to make mistake by some mnemonics, but he would need to have pretty good working memory either way). I am just
IQ tests are almost all reported as Standard scores, with a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 15. Scores of 85-115 are therefore within one standard deviation of the mean, so that describes 68% of the population. 95% of people achieve a score between 70 and 130 (2 standard deviations from the mean in each direction). 99.9% of people
Randomly getting about 11 correct answers (a raw score of 99 in this test) out of 228 possible answers doesn't seem very odd though. Subtract the bottom ceiling value of 75 to the top ceiling of 162, divide by the maximum of right answers of 38, and you get 2.23, which is the expected average value of each answer. So 75 + 11(2.23)=99.5.
The video that there's a link to shows it and the solution I think. The puzzle comes from the Mensa.no test. well, 10% of the people had too much alcohol in their life to score high on a test, 30% have better things to do (shopping with money they get for standing in some very mentally undemanding place in the food chain). a lot of people who
The same is with cheating an IQ test. It is not harder to cheat on a test that goes to 180 IQ compared to an easier one that only goes to 140 IQ. You just need to see the paper with the right answers. Being successful at cheating just means you are good at cheating. It doesn't have anything to do with how good you are in the subjects you cheat on.
